jab-officialNov 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) John Boehner who is going to replace Nancy Pelosi as the Speaker in the House in near future is visibly basking in the glory of the success of the GOP in the midterm elections. The humbled US president Barack Obama who acknowledged that the drubbing received by his party in the polls was really severe also called him up asking for collaboration between the two parties for the progress of the country and the economy. John Boehner said later that the conversation with the President was pleasant but added that it is high time the Democrats realize that their various policies including those on health-care and tax cuts have not gone down well with the voters at all and this has been reflected by their ballots in the midterm polls.

While on the surface he agreed with the proposal put forward by the president to cooperate with the ruling Democrats, John Boehner also made it clear that he and his party will try to Rollo back the much talked about health care reforms introduced by the Obama administration. He said in a statement - “The American people were concerned about the government takeover of health care”. He also did not lose the opportunity to lash out at outgoing speaker Nancy Pelosi who had been a soft target for the GOP in recent times. He reiterated that the mass has given a thumb down to “the Obama-Pelosi agenda.”

While the President has expressed his willingness to co operate with the GOP after the debacle suffered by his party he may not be eager to roll back the health care reforms. This was his long cherished plan and withdrawing it will lower the position of his party.
