Washington, Mar 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The House of Representatives finally managed to get the much dispute healthcare reform bill passed on Sunday, amidst a flurry of protests from the Republicans and the democrats are keeping their fingers crossed to see the developments. The House witnessed a long debate among the proponents and detractors of the bill, with a few Republicans launching scathing attack on Democrats and even the speaker Nancy Pelosi did not get spared. John Boehner, the Republican leader was at his critical best and he lashed out at the Democrats for getting the bill passed.
John Boehner expressed his disappointment after the bill got passed and said he felt sad. He claimed that passing the bill is equal to ignoring the voice of the citizens of the country and also added that the mass will feel let down by the political leaders. He attacked the Democrats by saying that they placed their own pursuits above the well being of the country men. He was visibly angry and often lost his cool while arguing with the Democrats about the viability of the bill and its various aspects. This extracted replies from the democrats and the heated debate reached such a crescendo that David Obey, who donned the role of the speaker, had to intervene and ask to adhere to the decorum of the House.
John Boehner wanted that a vote based on role call would be taken, but his plea was not accepted by David Obey. In general, electronic vote tally is used in the House to pass bills and amendments. Nancy Pelosi tried to reply to the accusations made by the Republicans later.
