Jogi wants probe into killing of Maoists

Raipur, Jan 14 (IANS) Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi Wednesday alleged that the 15 people killed last week and dubbed Maoists were innocent and demanded an independent probe.Accusing the police of plotting a “fake encounter”, Jogi told reporters here: “The police actually murdered civilians belonging to Gollapalli area including Singavaram village of Dantewada district.”

He sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a panel of the state assembly.

The police have maintained they killed 15 insurgents in a gun battle with Maoists at a forested stretch of Gollappali area Jan 8.
