Joe Biden to run on 2012 ticket
October 12th, 2011 - 9:50 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Oct 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) US Vice President Joe Biden is positive that he will be the running mate of President Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential race. The 68-year-old told NBC’s “Today Show” that he has no doubt that he will be on the ticket of Obama in the 2012 elections.
The next US election is going to be a crucial one. Struggling US economy, high jobless rate and some controversial bills from the current administration has thrown the contest wide open. As a policy, the candidacy of President Obama is guaranteed but there has been debate on who is going to be his running mate.
When he was asked of his chances of remaining the running mate of Obama, Biden said that, “Absolutely, positively yes. There’s never been any question about that…The president’s made that clear. Hardly anybody has raised that anymore.”
The former US Senator was the surprise choice of then candidate Obama in 2008. Biden was in the primaries to get the Democratic candidacy but he dropped out along the way. Obama eventually won the race after a bitter contest with Hilary Clinton.
He chose Biden as his running mate and the team won the historic US elections which saw Obama become the first African-American president of the country.
