Mumbai, Feb 1 (IANS) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Monday demanded that jobs in Maharashtra be given only those born in the state.
Addressing a party meeting at Shanmukhanand Hall Monday afternoon, Raj said that merely being able to read, write, and speak arathi would not entitle anybody to get local jobs.
“For getting jobs in Mumbai, the applicant must be a Marathi by birth,” he said.
He castigated some members of the MNS transport wing who attempted to teach Marathi to north Indian cab drivers last week by distributing easy-to-learn booklets.
“Who told them to do this? They should have considered other forms of protest,” he said.
