Florida, June 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jim Greer, the former Chairman of the Florida Republican Party has been arrested and put behind bars.
The political leader had been accused of misusing the party’s money long back in the month of February this year, an accusation which forced him to quit from his post and now land in jail.
The charges that have been leveled against him by William Shepherd, the prosecutor in the Florida court, are an organized scheme of felony, theft and laundering of public money.
It has been reported that the money which Jim Greer stole from the coffers of the government was spent behind luxury outings such as expensive hotels, equally expensive eateries and also on the private jets that the politician owned. His laundering came to light early this year and Jim Greer considered better to resign from his post in the Florida government.
The politician was arrested last Wednesday on six counts.
Officials barged into the home of the ousted leader in Oviedo on Wednesday and got him handcuffed, claims the latest reports.
It is being alleged that Jim Greer has put an amount of at least $125,000 from party funds into his pockets. The man may have been shaving on that fateful Wednesday morning but that did not prevent the authorities from arresting him.
It has been reported by the Florida court that the charges on six counts may even put the 47 year old politician in jail for a time span of 75 years.
Jim Greer’s annual income was $130,000, yet the man was suffering from a financial problem at the time he decided to steal the money his party received as donation.
