Patna, Dec 24 (IANS) The Jharkhand assembly election results that threw up a fractured verdict Wednesday saw Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in an upbeat mood while it upset his rival and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JD-U) performed poorly, winning only two seats and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got only 18 seats. With a combined tally of 20 seats, their dream of forming the next government in Jharkhand came to and end.
Lalu Prasad’s RJD party won five seats.
The RJD chief said his party would extend support to the Congress.
“We will extend unconditional support to Congress to form a secular government in Jharkhand,” Lalu Prasad said.
