Ranchi, April 1 (IANS) Jharkhand Speaker C.P. Singh Friday sought intervention of Governor M.O.H. Farook against the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the state.
“I requested the governor to intervene in the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the state,” Singh, of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), told reporters after meeting the governor at Raj Bhavan.
“The administration should ensure the rehabilitation of those people who will be displaced in the anti-encroachment drive. A new master plan should be chalked out and a new Ranchi capital should be created,” he said.
A Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) delegation also met the governor and sought his intervention.
In the last two weeks, more than 3,000 shops and houses have either been demolished or sealed during the anti-encroachment drive, launched on the order of the Jharkhand High Court.
