Illinois Governor Jackson Sep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jesse Jackson Jr. has denied allegations that he offered to raise millions in campaign financing for Rod Blagojevich in exchange for President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Jesse Jackson offered to donate a total of $6 million in political contribution to Blagojevich’s campaign in exchange for the vacant Senate seat of President Barack Obama.

However Jackson has denied the allegations and said he has already denied the allegations to the authorities. He said no charges have been brought against him after his interview with the authorities.

He described the allegations as “preposterous” and said his interest in President Barack Obama’s Senate seat was based on years of public service other than any other thing. “The very idea of raising millions of dollars for a campaign other than my own is preposterous. My interest in the Senate seat was based on years of public service, which I am proud of, not some improper scheme with anyone,” Jackson said.

However Jackson didn’t deny the other allegations made by the newspaper. The newspaper claimed that Raghuveer Nayak who had done campaign fund raising for both Jackson and Blagojevich told authorities that Jackson directed him to twice pay for the flight of his female “social acquaintance” to Chicago.

Jackson said he wants to treat that as a private matter adding that he has handled the issue with his wife sometime ago, and asked for his privacy to be respected.
