Jayalalithaa rehuffles cabinet, drops a minister
July 3rd, 2011 - 6:33 pm ICT by IANSChennai, July 3 (IANS) Within one-and-a-half months of assuming office, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa Sunday effected the second reshuffle of her cabinet, dropping a minister, inducting a new one and reallocating some portfolios.
Law, Courts and Prisons, Personnel and Administration Reforms and Prevention of Corruption Minister E. Subaya has been dropped from the council of ministers, said a statement from Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala’s office.
The portfolios handled by Subaya have been allotted to Information Minister G. Senthamizhan who has been redesignated as the Minister for Information, Law, Courts and Prisons.
Meanwhile, P. Chendur Pandian, a legislator from Kadayanallur constituency, has been inducted as the khadi and village industries minister. He will be sworn-in Monday at Raj Bhavan.
The portfolio is currently held by B.V. Ramana, who will continue to be the minister for handloom and textiles.
Food Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy will now be the commercial taxes and registration minister and Tourism Minister Budhichandhiran will take over as food minister.
Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister S. Gokula Indira will now look after tourism.
