Shimla, Aug 19 (IBNS) Senior leader Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jaswant Singh has been sacked by the party for parising Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah in his book.

Singh, who is the party MP from Darjeeling, was sacked on Wednesday at the party’s chintan baithak being held in Shimla.

Announcing expulsion of Singh, party President Rajnath Singh said: “I telephoned Jaswant Singh and asked him not to come to chintan baithak. He is no longer a primary member of BJP.”

Meanwhile, sources told media that the reason behind Singh’s sacking is his ‘praise for Jinnah’.

“Singh was all praises for Jinnah in his latest book titled ‘Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence’. That made him face criticism and fury of his party leading to his expulsion,” said a BJP source on conditions of anonymity.

“Singh was sacked for praising Jinnah,” said another party source.

Although Jaswant was in Shimla but he was not attending the three-day chintan baithak.
