Hyderabad, Oct 1 (IANS) Amid indications that the Congress central leadership may ask acting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to continue in office, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of late Y.S. Rajshekhara Reddy, Thursday vacated the chief minister’s camp office and moved to his sister’s residence here.
With the central leadership appearing unwilling to bow before the nearly month-long “Jagan as CM” campaign after the death of his father chief minister Rajasekhara Reddy, or YSR, the 37-year-old first time MP, his wife Vijayalaxmi and other family members decided to shift to his sister Sharmila’s residence in the posh Banjara Hills.

Leaders close to Jagan said he would also have his office there to meet his followers.

“From Oct 5, Jaganmohan Reddy will be available in the office for four days in a week. He will work to strengthen the party,” said state Congress general secretary Ambati Rambabu.

Ever since his father’s death Sep 2, party leaders, workers and people from different walks of life were calling on him at the camp office or office-cum-residence, which was built by YSR after he assumed office in 2004.

Jagan’s move came amid growing impatience among his followers over the delay on part of central leadership in taking a decision. The central leadership is reportedly unhappy with the open threats given by YSR loyalists, including ministers and legislators, and the violence resorted to by Jagan’s followers at a few places.

In another development, Rosaiah has decided to move to the chief minister’s chambers in C block of the state secretariat. The 77-year-old leader will step into the chief minister’s office Oct 5.

Rosaiah, who is also the finance minister, had so far been discharging the chief minister’s responsibilities from his chambers in D block in the secretariat.

The veteran leader, who was sworn in as the chief minister Sep 3, had stated that he would move to the chief minister’s office in the secretariat only after getting a nod from the central leadership.

YSR, his special secretary, chief security officer and two pilots were killed when the helicopter carrying them to Chittoor district crashed in dense forests in Kurnool district. Their bodies were found the next day after massive search operation by the Indian Air Force.
