Is Jon Huntsman planning for a Presidential run?
February 1st, 2011 - 2:23 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Jan 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Various reports indicate that America’s Ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman may be resigning his position soon to start his 2012 presidential bid.
The Washington Post reported last week that a group of fundraisers and operatives were waiting for the green light from Huntsman to begin the ground works for his campaign.
Another report from the Politico indicates that the White House is aware of Huntsman’s ambition. The report said the White House is expecting the former Utah Governor to tender in his resignation. Politico quoted the step-in Chief of Staff, Bill Daley as saying, “It’s also good to see Jon Huntsman, our ambassador to China. Or as we call him around the White House: the Manchurian Candidate. I want Jon to know that the president has no hard feelings. In fact, he just did an interview with the Tea Party Express saying how integral he has been to the success of the Obama administration.”
Barack Obama recently joked about the rumor when the Chinese President Hu Jintao visited the US. Obama joked “I’m sure the fact that having worked so well with me will be a great asset in any Republican primary.”
