Tehran, July 30 (Xinhua) Iranian Police Thursday dispersed hundreds of mourners planning to commemorate the protesters killed during the country’s post-election unrest, Press TV reported.
“Iranian police have dispersed hundreds of people planning to gather in Tehran’s Behesht-e-Zahra cemetery to commemorate those killed in post-election unrest,” said the report.

Iran’s defeated reformist candidates, Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, who arrived at the cemetery in the afternoon to join the mourners, were forced to leave the place by security personnel, a witness said.

Mousavi and Karroubi had earlier announced that they would join the mourners at the cemetery after the interior ministry officials refused to issue a permission for the dissidents to hold a memorial ceremony at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla, a prayer venue.

Mousavi’s supporters have participated in massive rallies in Tehran and other cities following the June 12 disputed election. Iran’s state media said more than 20 people have been killed in related clashes.
