February 15th, 2011 - 6:39 pm ICT by IANSTehran, Feb 15 (IANS/AKI) Several Iranian MPs Tuesday said leaders of their country’s opposition should be put to death as several protesters took to the streets in the aftermath of demonstrations in Tunisia and Egypt. The MPs shouted: “Death to Moussavi, Karroubi and Khatami”.
They blamed Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi, former president Mohammad Khatami, and another opposition leader who contested presidential poll Mehdi Karroubi, the IRNA news agency reported.
Mousavi was placed under house arrest, according to his official website. Police took similar precaution against Karroubi to ensure that they could not participate in rallies in Tehran and other cities.
