Hyderabad, Sep 1 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah could not accompany Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Tirupati Wednesday due to illness.
The 78-year-old Rosaiah, who completes one year in office Sep 3, had to cancel his visit to the temple town at the last moment, officials in the chief minister’s office said.
Health Minister D. Nagender called on the chief minister at the latter’s residence. He later told reporters that Rosaiah was suffering from fever and could not go to Tirupati.
He, however, said there was nothing serious and Rosaiah would visit Pavaralagutta in Kurnool district Thursday to unveil the statue of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on his first death anniversary.
The Chief Minister was to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremonies of NTPC BHEL power equipment plant and Tirupati international airport.
Rosaiah had also cancelled his Delhi visit Tuesday but officials attributed this to the PM’s visit to Tirupati.
A team of doctors from Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) conducted various tests including swine flu tests on him. K. Subhakar told media that reports of some tests would be available in the evening.
“We have advised him to take rest. Whether he will be able to attend the programmes tomorrow depends on the reports,” he said.
