India’s 62nd Republic Day parade begins
January 26th, 2011 - 11:43 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS) India’s 62nd Republic Day parade began in the heart of the capital Wednesday, marking the day when the country’s constitution came into force.The parade at Rajpath, a grand celebration of India’s cultural and military might, had Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as chief guest.
He is the second Indonesian chief guest on the occasion after Sukarno in 1950 when India celebrated its first Republic Day.
Also assembled for the spectacle were thousands of enthusiastic Indians.
