Indian Minister Gauri Shankar Bisen involved in shoe-lace tying row

Gauri Shankar Bisen, who is a minister in the Indian state of Pradesh, was shown on television as a boy laced his shoe in public.
The incident has sparked a row by Bisen insists that the controversy is being sparked by the opposition party in a bid to discredit him. Bisen announced that he has given up wearing lace-able shoes as a sign that he never intended to be seen the way he was portrayed on television.
Giving his side of the accounts, Bisen told reporters that, “I was sitting on the dais with my shoelaces untied. The boys noticed it and one of them rushed to me and tied the laces. The boy knew that I have had a bypass surgery recently and another hernia operation. Doctors have advised me not to bend down too much. I admit it was my mistake and I am sorry for it. I swear that from now onwards, I will not wear any shoes with laces.”
He denied allegations that the boy was a member of a tribal community. He revealed that he was related to the boy in question. He further accused the opposition Congress party of making a big issue out of the incident.
Congress minister Kamal Nath described the incident as the “the most obnoxious episode” he has ever witnessed in his political life.
