India has every right to interrogate Headley: CPI-M MP
December 14th, 2009 - 5:52 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) India has every right to interrogate American-born terror suspect David Headley in relation to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the government should strongly take up the matter with the US, said a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MP in the Lok Sabha Monday.
“Headley now appears to be the prime conspirator and perpetrator of the Mumbai terror attack. India has every right to interrogate Headley, who is now in the custody of the US’ investigation agency FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation),” said M.B. Rajesh of the CPI-M during zero hour.
Referring to the US authority’s denial of India’s request to interrogate Headley, the MP said: “if this government has any regard for those who have laid down their lives in the 26/11 attack, the government should strongly take up the matter with the US.”
He recalled that India had given access to the US authorities to question Ajmal Kasab, the lone Pakistani terrorist who is in India’s custody for the Mumbai terror attack.
“This episode has also exposed the subservient character of our government’s alliance with the US,” said the CPI-M MP.
