Jan 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An appellate court in Illinois has refused to grant permission to Rahm Emanuel for contesting in the elections for the mayor of Chicago. Rahm Emanuel on Monday was forbidden by the Illinois appellate court for the polls after they declared that he fails to qualify for the residency requirements that the office demands. Although barred by the law, the former White House official, however, is in no mood to accept the verdict. Instead he has already announced it to the media that he will fight against the present verdict.
According to sources, from what came out from the ex- White House chief of staff, it is evident that he is quite hopeful that the ultimate judgment will go in his favor. At a recent press conference in Chicago he said that he will fight for justice adding that he was no doubt that at the end his effort will succeed. he now intends to go to the nest step so that things start appearing lucid for him and his party. The Democrat was rejected on a 2-to-1 vote by the panel of judges for the elections for mayor that will be held on February 22. The denial has come across as a severe jolt to Rahm Emanuel who has remained a favorite with the mass as a suitable replacement for the soon-to-retire Mayor.
The court pointed fingers towards Rahm Emanuel regarding the critical political issue of whether he is actually a Chicagoan or not, since he spends a lot of time in Washington. Rahm Emanuel has already filed for an appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court. As per the rules, four out of the seven state Supreme Court must hear his case.
