I would have run a train over Lalu: BJP leaderApril 7th, 2009 - 8:48 pm ICT by IANS
Etah (Uttar Pradesh), April 7 (IANS) A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tuesday said he would run a train over Railways Minister Lalu Prasad for his alleged threatening remarks against jailed politician Varun Gandhi.
“If I were a railways minister, I would have run a train over Lalu Prasad,” Ram Vilas Vedanti, a former BJP MP told reporters here after he met Varun Gandhi in Etah jail.
The BJP leader’s remarks follow the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief’s election rally in Bihar Monday where he said if he had been the home minister he would have run a “roller” over Varun Gandhi for his hate speeches against Muslims.
Vedanti said: “We will not tolerate comments made against our young leader, who has been falsely implicated under the National Security Act (NSA).”
The BJP leader and Varun’s mother Maneka Gandhi met the jailed BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah jail Tuesday. The meeting lasted for around 45 minutes, according to police.
Maneka Gandhi refused to comment after meeting her jailed son, who landed himself in trouble after a video footage aired on TV channels showed him making anti-Muslim remarks in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh.
