New Delhi, Aug 3 (IBNS) Attempting to clear his name from the Rs 1 crore bribery case, Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Buta Singh Monday said it was he who urged the police to approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.

“It was I who approached the police and urged them to approach the CBI in this case. It is the CBI that is responsible for masterminding this political conspiracy against me,” Buta Singh told reporters here Monday.

“On hearing the news about my son-Sarabjyot’s arrest, I immediately informed the police commissioner about the matter. I have briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the facts. He has responded positively and sought more details,” Singh said.

“CBI is using Sarbjyot as a tool against me.”

The Enforcement Directorate has been roped in to help investigations of a bribery case involving Buta Singh’s son Sarabjyopt Singh and trace an alleged hawala dealer and accused in the case, Dhuksingh Chauhan, reported Times Now.

Meanwhile, in a dramatic twist, Nasik based builder Ram Rao Patil, who filed a complaint with the CBI against Sarabjyot, has disappeared.

Patil cannot be traced since Sunday, the police said. Patil has been booked in a case of cheating, forgery and atrocities in Nasik.

Singh’s son Sarobjit alia Sweety Baba , who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation’s anti-corruption wing in Mumbai for allegedly demanding a bribe of one crore rupees from Patil to close a case in the commission, admitted his ‘crime’ Friday.
