I am not a school kid to show report card, says angry Omar
December 6th, 2009 - 1:25 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Jammu, Dec 6 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, ticking off a reporter for asking whether he was happy with his government’s performance, said he was not in a school where he would have to show his annual report card to qualify for higher studies.
“I am not a school kid, where I have to exhibit my report card to get to the next level,” a miffed Omar Abdullah told a reporter at a press conference in Jammu late Saturday evening.
A reporter had asked him whether he was satisfied with his government’s performance for the past 11 months.
“We have been mandated (to rule) for six years, and I have five years and one month to deliver on the promises that we have made to the people. After six years, I will go to people with my performance report to seek a second chance to rule,” Omar told reporters.
Omar made it clear that he would never be satisfied with his work, “for if we are satisfied, we will stop working and addressing problems of the people. We will continue to work”.
The Omar Abdullah government was sworn in on Jan 5 this year. The tenure of the government in Jammu and Kashmir is six years as against five years in other states of India.
