Bharatiya Janata Party New Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) Denying charges of corruption levied against him and his family in the Commonwealth Games expenditure, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhanshu Mittal Wednesday said he is being made a “political scapegoat”.

Officials of the Income Tax Department Tuesday conducted searches in the premises of Mittal and others who won lucrative contracts for the just-concluded Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games.

“On the total CWG expenditure of Rs.77,000 crore, my company did business worth only Rs.29 lakh and now I am held as the fountainhead of corruption. Is this fair?” Mittal asked, saying that he was ready for a probe.

“I have just been made a political scapegoat,” he said, adding that “I am very disappointed that the media launched a campaign against me without any verification”.
