Honduras lacks will for negotiated solution, says minister
October 24th, 2009 - 12:14 am ICT by IANSTegucigalpa, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) A representative of ousted Honduran president Manuel Zelaya has said the country’s de facto government lacks political will for a negotiated solution to the conflict.
Work Minister Mayra Mejia, one of Zelaya’s three representatives who participated in the talks, said Friday the dialogue process has been “exhausted”.
“This phase is used up. We are going to continue with other actions,” Mejia said.
Oct 15 was Zelaya’s initial deadline to find a negotiated solution to the political crisis that began in the country after the June 28 military coup.
The minister said the representatives will meet Zelaya Friday to discuss future course of action after the failure of the negotiations.
