hirramNew York, Feb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The fact that misdemeanor can lead to the expulsion of a popular politician has been once again proved with former member of New York Senate Hiram Monserrate being expelled from the office. According to the reports, Queens Senator Hiram Monserrate had to leave his seat in the State Senate after his colleagues had cast votes against him on Tuesday.

As per the reports, the senator had received 53-8 vote from his colleagues in the State Senate, which clearly indicated that they did not approve the behaviors of the state senator in regards to his girlfriend. It has been reported that the state senator had to face such a consequence after his girlfriend complained that he had tortured her physically in his apartment lobby.

In an interview, after the vote, State Senator Eric Schneiderman said that the “abusive and unlawful conduct’ that Hiram Monserrate had displayed is not suitable for New York State Senate’s integrity. He added that his act shows that he is not capable of serving the Senate body and so they had decided to expel him from his post. Though majority of the state Senators have opposed the actions of Hiram Monserrate, some of them have supported him and voted for him. However, it was not enough to retain him in the State Senate.

According to the reports, the Democrat party member Hiram Monserrate had been extremely disappointed with the decision of his colleagues to expel him. It has been reported that he believed that he would serve a long term in state Senate and have declared to take legal actions to regain his position.
