Shimla, Aug 2 (IANS) The monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly beginning Monday is likely to be a stormy affair with the opposition Congress ready to corner the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on various issues, including the appointment of the chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) and the infamous ragging death at the Tanda medical college.
“The issue of appointments of CPS and the ragging episode at the medical college will be among the major issues that will be raised during the assembly session,” Congress legislature party leader Vidya Stokes told IANS here Sunday.
She said “deteriorating law and order and corruption” were among the other issues that would be raised during the session.
However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister J.P. Nadda told reporters after a meeting of party legislators here Sunday evening: “The Congress is a directionless party. We are ready to face the opposition.”
He said the session will continue till Aug 27. The 68-member assembly would have 17 sittings.
He said the anti-ragging ordinance, which was issued in the wake of the tragic death of Aman Kachru allegedly due to ragging at the Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Tanda in March, is likely to be converted into a bill.
