Kuala Lumpur, Dec 21 (IANS) Assisting the Indian community members and hearing their grievances five days a week will help win back their support, Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) chief S. Samy Vellu has said.
Praising the work done by the party unit at Ipoh, Vellu said the party headquarters was open five days a week and there was a continuous stream of visitors seeking assistance.
“I will introduce the same system at state MIC offices to enable the community to raise problems with state party officials,” Vellu was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times Monday.
The party also plans to organise a workshop called “Re-invent and Re-connect” for state officials.
The oldest party speaking for the nearly two million ethnic Indian community badly lost the elections in March last year. Vellu himself lost his re-election bid.
