Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants an approval of healthcare legislation. On Wednesday she said, that the Senate’s version should be passed by the House using a process called “budget reconciliation” in order to make changes which lawmakers demand. She said she will put her best efforts to have a health care bill. Abandoning the bill is not even an option.
On Wednesday, she said she wants majority to rule. She puts, “Majority rule, we call it.” According to reports, House and Senate leaders did not agree on the changes needed to pass the Senate bill. Apart from this, House Democrats want the elimination of a tax on “Cadillac” insurance plans. They want to generate more help for Americans whose income are low or moderate. They want to help those Americans with health coverage and want to provide more aid for expending Medicaid. The Senate version would provide extra aid to a few states that would include Nebraska. According to a Senate Democratic aide, the changes might hike the cost of heath care bill by $300 billion in the next 10 years. The total would be around $1.2 trillion. Brendan Daly, a spokesman of Nancy Pelosi disagreed on the $300-billion figure. He said, “There is no set cost.”
Various Democrats said they would want a new and limited bill of healthcare that would receive Republican support. However, some group of people that include doctors, consumer groups and labor unions want a little more ambitious plan like President Barack Obama. Senator of Nebraska, Bel Nelson who has opposed reconciliation earlier, said on Wednesday that he would not oppose healthcare strategy.
