Health Care Reform Bill Passed By US Congress

undercoverWashington, Mar 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The health care scenario in America is about to undergo a major transformation as President Barack Obama registered a historic legislative victory when the U.S. House of Representatives passed the landmark health care reform bill on Sunday. In order to be passed by the Senate, the bill received 219 votes in its favor, which surpassed the number of votes against it by only seven votes.

Although the Republicans were unanimous in its decision of opposing the health care reform bill, thirty four politicians hailing from the Democratic party also joined the Republicans in showcasing their opposition to the bill. The Republicans have contended that the health care reform bill would play a pivotal role in escalating the health insurance cost of majority of Americans and at the same time would result in far greater debt situation for the country. Meanwhile, the decision of the House to pass the bill can be termed as a significant victory for President Barack Obama as it would result in the United States President ultimately signing the bill, for which he campaigned all across the country for quite some time now. Congressional officials have disclosed that President Barack Obama is likely to sign the bill on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, soon after the bill was passed, a delighted United States President exclaimed that “this is what change looks like”. Moreover, President Barack Obama also implied that by voting in favor of the health care reform bill, the US Congress had made it very clear that the nation was competent of doing ‘big things’ and also added that the bill was a great victory for the American people.
