Haryana wants to stop contractual labour
October 31st, 2011 - 8:37 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Oct 31 (IANS) Days after a strike ended at automobile major Maruti-Suzuki’s plant at Manesar, the Haryana government Monday said the practice of employing contractual labour in the state could be discontinued.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shiv Charan Lal Sharma said that concerted efforts will be taken in the interest of the workers to remove the practice of employing contractual labour in the state.
The minister was interacting with representatives of the Haryana region unit of the All India FCI Workers Union and Food and Allied Workers Union at Faridabad, around 200 km from here, a spokesman said.
He cautioned labour contractors not to misuse their licences. “Strict instructions have been issued to deal with such violators sternly,” he added.
