Haryana governor dissolves state assembly
August 21st, 2009 - 10:37 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 21 (IANS) Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia Friday evening dissolved the state assembly, just hours after the Haryana cabinet recommended its dissolution.
An official spokesman confirmed to IANS that the the governor issued a notification Friday evening, dissolving the state assembly.
The Congress-led government in the state, headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, had earlier Friday recommended dissolution of the 90-member assembly nearly seven months ahead of the expiry of the legislature’s term in March next year.
Elections in the state are likely be held in October along with polls to the Maharashtra assembly.
