Haryana assembly speaker resigns, inducted as cabinet minister
January 28th, 2011 - 8:27 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Jan 28 (IANS) Haryana Assembly Speaker Harmohinder Singh Chatha resigned from his post Friday afternoon. Hours later, he was inducted as a cabinet minister in the state’s Congress-led government headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.”Haryana Vidhan Sabha has notified that under Article 179 (b) of the Constitution of India, Harmohinder Singh Chatha has resigned the office of Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly with effect from the afternoon of January 28, 2011,” an official spokesman said here.
Chatha was agriculture minister during the previous tenure (2005-2009) of the Hooda government.
