Nov 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In what was a rather heroic win against all odds, US Senator Harry Reid, has managed to retain his seat in spite of being the top target of the Republicans. With the campaign led ferociously by the Tea Party veteran Sharron Angle, the soft spoken Harry Reid was expected to lose in the elections considering that Nevada suffered the worst case of unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy in the nation.
Harry Reid said after the results were announced that Nevada chose hope over fear. He also said that by choosing him, Nevada chose to move forward and not backward. By winning, Harry Reid was also saved from the indignity of a majority leader losing in the re-election bid. Harry Reid held a 5 point advantage with nearly all the projected vote counted. The fight was however a tough one for the Democrat as he himself put it to the media. He said that in his lifetime he had been in a number of fights that included ones in the street, in the boxing ring and even in the senate. He added that this was definitely the toughest.
President Barack Obama too had shown hope that Harry Reid by just sneak past the Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle in a recent interview. He said that Harry Reid Had been his partner and also added that losing lawmakers like Harry Reid would make it hard for him to improve the economy. The President was also seen taking to the radio to urge the African-American community in the state to go out and vote. One source explained, after analyzing the preliminary exit polls, that Harry Reid enjoyed a great support from the minority voters.
