Hamid Karzai’s popularity at all time low
November 13th, 2009 - 10:53 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt ( Leave a comment )Kabul, Nov 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The newly elected Afghan president, Hamid Karzai is facing the lowest popularity ratings and his image is in tatters, even though he is all set to be inaugurated for a second term at a Kabul ceremony on November 19.
The plunge in his status and his popularity ratings could not have come at more critical and bad moment, with President Barack Obama is in a dilemma and is expected to make a decision about whether to send tens of thousands of extra U.S. troops to add to the 110,000-strong Western force already there.
It may be recalled that his image is in tatters because of his recent election rigging deeds. He rigged the first round of elections with more than a million dummy votes, and then confidently went ahead and rigged the second round of elections too, with more than 500 ‘ghost’ polling places to generate another surge of fake votes. Despite a big hue and cry over the fraud votes worldwide, Hamid Karzai refused steadfastly to acknowledge it and hence the world lost the respect that it had for Hamid Karzai in a jiffy, over these wrongdoings.
