wwwreuterscom1Dec 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ever since the Haiti election results have been declared as a runoff the country has been thrown into a state of severe unrest. The streets of capital city Port-au-Prince are burning, and gun shots have become just a common matter. All because the election council declared the poll results as a runoff. The Presidential election which was held a week ago had former first lady Mirlande Manigat with 31.37 of the vote, where the second position saw Jude Celestin with 22.48 percent and popular musician Michel Martelly with 21.84 percent.

According to sources, people are fuming with the announcement of the runoff which has led to a critical form of protest. All because most of them refute to have Jude Celestin as their President. Jude Celestin is the candidate who is being supported by current President Rene Preval. Of late Rene Preval’ government has been receiving a lot of unpopular notes and with these protests it is not difficult to guess that people of the nation do not want Jude Celestin as their future President. A violent tone of protest came up when one protester was seen saying that the country will be on fire if the government is not one of either Mirlande Manigat or that of Michel Martelly.

Streets filled with barricades are burning and there is no end to the violent form of protests. Police patrolling the streets is a common sight. Supporters of the former first lady are hurling stones at passers by. Once again the elections will take place on January 16, four days after the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake. It is being speculated that President Rene Preval will go to any extent for making Jude Celestin the ultimate winner.
