texasAustin, Mar 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Texas election for the office of the Governor, that came to an end this Tuesday, received mixed responses from observers. On the one hand, the outcome of the race seemed pretty predictable, while on the other, observers felt that the results were nothing less than astonishing. The elections ended with the incumbent candidate, Governor Rick Perry, being elected to the post a third time, something that is rare in itself. That is not even bringing into account the fact that he was running against Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, who was being touted as the only one who would have been able to seize the office from the incumbent Governor.

However, the fact that Governor Rick Perry managed to win against Senator Rick Bailey can be attributed to the fact that the hostilities in the state are growing increasingly against the politics of Washington. Moreover, the campaigns undertaken by Governor Rick Perry had left no stone unturned in order to make it clear that Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is completely embedded in the political beliefs of the White House, helped by the fact that she is a Democrat.

This win makes Governor Rick Perry the longest serving Governor in the state of Texas. He won at a margin of 51% by 31%, which was the number of votes gained by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. 18% of the votes by the Republicans went to Debra Medina. The general elections that will be held on Nov 2 this year will see a face-off between Governor Rick Perry and the erstwhile Mayor of Houston, Bill White.
