Governor Pat Quinn Leads Illinois Primary Election Results

illinoisIllinois, Feb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) President Barack Obama has completed only one year of his administration and it appears that the political scenario of the United States has significantly changed in these months. Democrats have lost their Filibuster majority in the Senate after Democrat candidate Martha Coakley lost the Massachusetts election against Republican Scott Brown. As the political scenario of the country is extremely volatile at this moment, both the political parties are acting cautiously to retain their popularity among the masses. The primary election for selecting the representatives to run for the Illinois gubernatorial race is over and candidates are waiting for the results.

According to the latest updates of the Illinois primary election, eighty-two percent votes have been counted and the results so far indicates that Comptroller Dan Hynes is trailing behind Governor Pat Quinn by few votes. Though there is no official confirmation, sources stated that Governor Pat Quinn has received 51% votes while Comptroller Dan Hynes has 49% votes in his favor. As the lead is very modest, the results can change anytime.

Not only the Democrats but also the Republicans are tensed about the result of the election and the last reports stated that 79% of the total votes have been counted. It has been reported that 21% of the total votes counted so far has been cast in favor of Senator Bill Brady and he is leading the other Republican opponents. The two other Republican candidate Senator Kirk Dillard and chairman Andy McKenna have received 20% votes so far. However, Jim Ryan, the former Attorney General of Illinois is reported to have received 16 percent of the votes.
