Governor David A. Paterson Fined $62,125 For Soliciting New York Yankees Ticket

Dec 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) New York’s Governor David Alexander Paterson has been fined by New York state ethics board, for accepting free World Series tickets from the baseball team New York Yankees in 2009. The Governor, reportedly, took five free tickets from the baseball team and he will have to pay $62,125 as his fine. However, David Paterson released a statement on Monday stating that he wanted to pay for the tickets.
The ethics board has fined the Governor on grounds of accepting, receiving and soliciting the free tickets from New York Yankees. On the other hand, David A. Paterson’s claim that he wanted to pay for the tickets later proved to be false as the investigators found out that he never intended to pay back for the tickets. The ethics board stated that the Governor violated the state ethics laws and then he gave a false testimony in his statement. Commission on Public Integrity released a statement stating that the Governor David Paterson knew that he was doing an unlawful conduct.
The statement also read that Governor David A. Paterson has set an inappropriate example to everyone by his unethical conduct and dishonesty. Moreover, Commission on Public Integrity emphasized on the fact that such unethical conduct would not be accepted by the any employee in New York. The statement also added that the Governor has violated moral and ethical rules. The eyewitnesses report that the Governor attended New York Yankees game against Philadelphia Phillies with his son and his son’s friend as well as two aides. When asked about the matter, New York Yankees’ spokesperson declined to comment anything. Governor David A. Paterson was also unavailable for comments.
