September 21st, 2010 - 11:30 pm ICT by IANSVadodara, Sep 21 (IANS) Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal Tuesday called upon the tribal youth to strengthen democracy in the country and abjure violence.
“Taking to arms solves no problem. On the contrary, it creates one. Tribal youth should educate themselves to combat problems like unemployment and poverty,” she said.
Delivering the valedictory address at the seven-day long third tribal youth cultural exchange programme held in Vadodara in which 230 youngsters from six naxalite affected states were participating, Beniwal said: “The strength of tribal youth should be utilized in building a strong and prosperous nation.”
Beniwal expressed confidence that the event would fulfil its purpose and familiarize the participants with different cultures, traditions and customs of different states.
The festival was jointly sponsored by Nehru Youth Centre, Gandhinagar and the union ministry of youth. Tribals from Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh participated in the festival.
