scottWashington D.C., Feb 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Republican candidate, Scott Brown, who had defeated his strong Democratic opponent Martha Coakley in the special election last month had been sworn in as the 41st Senator on Thursday. The victory in the Massachusetts Senate election was extremely crucial for the Democratic party, which had held this seat for more than four decades. Loss of this Senate seat has nullified their Filibuster protection of 60 seats in the Senate and now they would have to face strong opposition from the Republicans for passing a bill in the Senate.

According to the reports, GOP Scott Brown, who is prepared to take on the responsibility of the Senator and has pledged to serve his country in a better manner was sworn in by Joe Biden, the vice-president of the country. Scott Brown, who was considered to be a weaker candidate against Democrat Martha Coakley in the Massachusetts Senate election was “humbled and honored” for receiving the opportunity to represent the people of his state in the Senate. He described the entire incident to be very much “exciting”. Scott Brown, who has expressed his happiness to receive this honor, said that now he needs to focus on his work.

As GOP Scott Brown has been sworn in as the Senator of Massachusetts, he is now the rightful occupant of late Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat. Therefore, Democrat Senator Paul Kirk, who had been completing the term of the late Senator served his final day in this seat on Thursday. It has been reported that Senator Paul Kirk had guided Senator Scott Brown in the appropriate way so that he does not have to face much difficulty.
