Mar 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Democrats managed to get the debated Healthcare bill passed in the House amidst stiff resistance from the Republicans but their worries are not over, as the news sources indicate. The defeat in the House was a setback for the Republicans but they are not giving up their hopes to stall the bill as yet. They have warned that they will oppose it in the senate. Mitch McConnell, the minority leader of the Senate said that they would try to stall the bill for the well being of the countrymen.
The senate republicans are trying to make several amendments to project the bill in a negative light and prove that it is way too costly and not viable in the long run. They also hope to force some of the Senate Democrats to change their stance. The Democrats need to abstain from amending the important reconciliation bill and by doing so, they will compel the House to take a vote on it once more. It may also add strain in the relation of the Senate and House Democrat leaders.
It is not easy to say if the GOP members will succeed in their endeavor or not. Their effort to stall the health reform bill on grounds of abortion failed to cut the ice with the Democrats. The bill got passed yesterday finally, but it was not without the expected amount of verbal assaults and accusations from the Republicans. They severely criticized the Democrats and did not spare speaker Nancy Pelosi either. When the bill was being discussed in the House, a band of protesters assembled outside and shouted slogans supporting the GOP.
