Tallahassee, Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) For once Americans have joined hands forgetting political, ideological and religious line to condemn the Holy Quran burning plans by a Florida Pastor to mark the anniversary of 9/11. The event is scheduled to be held on Saturday and Terry Jones is in no mood to back up from the event which has generated nation wide outrage. The latest politician to join the long list of lawmakers who have condemned the Holy Quran burning plan in Florida is former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The GOP presidential candidate, Sarah Palin said to media sources that the “Book burning is antithetical to American ideals”.
Sarah Palin said that though the American Constitution has provided rights to its citizens to burn books if they want, burning of Holy Quran is highly “insensitive and an unnecessary provocation”. Sarah Palin compared the Holy Quran burning by the Florida Pastor to the building of a mosque at Ground Zero. She urged Terry Jones, the Florida Pastor to reconsider his decision in the matter, keeping in mind the possible effects that his planned gesture will lead to. Sarah Palin held that the burning of Holy Quran will only “feed the fire of caustic rhetoric” and appear as nothing more than “mean-spirited religious intolerance” on the part of the Americans. Sarah Palin asserted that Americans should not feed such a fire.
The Conservative party leader said to media sources that the present gesture of Quran burning by the pastor is totally counter-productive to the Christian teachings. She held that if the ultimate aim is to prove that Christian teachings of mercy, freedom, equality and justice forms the foundation of the country then Quran burning is not the way to do so.
