Panaji, March 19 (IANS) Goa Congress Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik Friday urged Home Minister P. Chidambaram to ban the Hindu group Sanatan Sanstha, whose members have been accused of carrying out low intensity explosions.
Speaking to reporters here, Naik said Chidambaram promised to look into the demand if the state government moved a proposal to the home ministry.
The MP met the minister in New Delhi.
Naik said the group could be banned on the basis of the volatile content published by its media organs.
Nearly half a dozen members of the group are now in police custody. The group says it is a spiritual organisation.
