Ghana President Mills dies following short illness
July 25th, 2012 - 12:17 am ICT by BNO NewsACCRA, GHANA (BNO NEWS) — Ghana’s President John Atta Mills died Tuesday afternoon in the capital Accra following a short illness, the presidential office said, giving no other details about the cause of death. He was 68.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the President of the Republic of Ghana - His Excellency, Professor John Evans Atta Mills,” Chief of Staff John Henry Martey Newman said in a statement. “The death occurred at the 37 Military Hospital this afternoon while receiving medical attention after being taken ill a few hours earlier.”
Newman said Vice President John Dramani Mahama will address the nation later on Tuesday.
