genWashington, March 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) US Army General David Petraeus has come up as a potential candidate for the post of the President of United States in the next Presidential Election, which is scheduled to be held in 2012. Though no formal declaration has been made by General David Petraeus or the Republicans, many are speculating that the General might follow the path of many previous Army Generals who have participated in the US presidential election.

The US Army General is quite popular among the Republicans. He had carried out the Iran war under the reign of former President George W. Bush. The Republicans are pinning their hope on the 2012 President Election as the now Democrat President Barack Obama is losing the supports base. The Republicans have on their part, very few potential candidates to put forward in the coming years. One likely candidate is General David Petraeus. However, according to many, it is still premature to comment on the success or the failure of the US President Barack Obama, who is putting forward a brilliant effort to get his agendas to work. His tackling of the war front however, has been criticized by many.

If David Petraeus campaigns for the seat of the President in 2012, then he would be following in the footsteps of Gen. Dwight Eisenhowe, who had served as the 34th President of United States. He is one of the most highly esteemed Presidents and is known for many important public works that he did for the nation. However, there are also many stories of Army Generals who have not been able to make it big as a President.
