Los Angeles, Sept 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Gary Johnson’s joke during the GOP presidential debate has become the topic of the day. The presidential hopeful mocked President Barack Obama’s job creation credibility when he said that his neighbor’s dog created “more shovel-ready jobs” than what the current US rulers are doing.

Gary might have copied his joke from somewhere. As it turns out, the same joke was shared by talk show host Rush Limbaugh during his show on Tuesday night. Rush’s words were “My dogs have created more shovel-ready work than Obama has just this week alone.”

Gary later admitted that the joke was not from him but his friend though he denied knowing that Rush had earlier used it on his program.

The debate on Thursday night was the first for the former New Mexico governor. The GOP race is heating up with the two frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney going neck-on-neck.

The US economy remains the number one issue ahead of the elections in 2012. The country’s current unemployment rate hovers around the 9.1 percent mark. In the summer, the country narrowly missed defaulting on its debt obligation for the first time.

President Obama is seeking for reelection in 2012.
