Games over, Delhi ministers eye constituencies
October 16th, 2010 - 8:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) After the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games, Delhi ministers now want to meet people in their constituencies.
The ministers, involved in the preparations for the Games, were left with little time in the last few months to focus on their constituencies.
Health Minister Kiran Walia said she would concentrate on her Malviya Nagar constituency soon and meet people there.
“Now that the Commonwealth Games are over, I will visit my constituency in the next few days, especially during the Dussehra,” Walia told IANS.
Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said he was not planning any vacation after the Oct 3-14 mega event came to an end.
According to a government source, the Congress party feels that it is the best time for the ministers to meet the people, who are unhappy with the party over the inflation and allegations of corruption in preparation for the Games.
The source said the ministers would meet as many people as possible during the festive season.
For Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, the focus will be to spend time with people in his Gandhi Nagar constituency with Dussehra being the best time.
However, Finance Minister A.K. Walia is an exception. He is taking a weekend break in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
