Jan 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords might leave the hospital much earlier than expected. After she had been shot in the head in a mass shooting in Tuscon, Arizona, there were very few chances of her survival. Even then, she has managed to stun her doctors and of course the world by the manner in which is recovering. Reports say that she is making a tremendous progress. Neurosurgeon Dr Michael Lemole said he thought the word “miracle” is the most fitting when it came to describing her recovery from the injury she received on her head from the bullet on January 8. The doctor also added that the day she left the hospital, would be the next milestone of her recovery.
Her neurosurgeon said that her recovery could be a matter matter of days to weeks. He also said that the main issue that they are trying to look at is in getting her to a rehabilitation center where she could move on to her next phase of her recovery. The congresswoman is still unable to speak, since she is stuck with a breathing tube in her neck. Moreover, the doctors are not sure how well her eyesight would be after she had undergone the ophthalmic surgery to remove the fragments of bones that got pressed on to her right eye when she was shot in the head. However, doctors are optimistic about her recovery.
Her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, told a reporter of a leading news channel that Gabrielle Giffords is able to interact with him; she can move her hands. The strength and the determination that Gabrielle Giffords is showing is actually inspirational. She is fighting the adversities and surprising the world with her miraculous recovery.
