Gabrielle Giffords is talking and singing
February 15th, 2011 - 8:55 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattHouston, Feb 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Gabrielle Giffords is making steady recovery from her injuries.
The congresswoman was seriously injured when she was shot from close range in the front. The bullet ended up in her brain critically wounding her. Doctors were however shocked when she started recovering earlier than they thought. She has currently been released from the intensive care unit and is recuperating at a rehab center in Houston.
Doctors announced another milestone in the treatment of the congresswoman. Doctors say she is currently able to sing some simple lines of famous songs and is able to speak on the phone. Doctors are however cautious on the extent of recovery of Giffords. They have also not announced whether she could make full recovery anytime soon.
Her astronaut husband, Mark Kelly, announced fortnight ago that he will be going on a NASA mission despite the condition of his wife. He explained that the action was what Giffords would advise if she could do so.
The congresswoman and 19 others were shot on the 8th of January when she was having a rally at Tucson, Ariz. The attack resulted in the death of six of the victims which included a federal judge.
